2019 President's Letter

Greetings Thelo United FC Families,

I present to you the 2019 Presidents Letter from our 2019 AGM (2.8.19 Annual General Meeting).

I am happy to say that 2018 was a great year for Thelo United FC. The club continued to offer great soccer programs for both our youth and high school players in our community.

The board looked very closely at our fee structure and registration costs as a result of the Club not running as effectively and efficiently as possible in prior years. At the 2016 AGM we proposed several options for improving upon this, to our families and ultimately came up with a solution that we felt would not be a burden for our families. And thus has allowed the club to operate with more consistent financial stability moving forward. These changes have been implemented over the course of the past two years and have proven to be a solid financial pathway for success for the clubs current and long term success.

As a club, our largest expense each year is field rentals for practices and games. The board has worked diligently with not only the School District, but also to ensure that all field time booked is maximized for use for all of our teams and no field time goes empty and unused. This has helped tremendously in cost savings. Considering that this is a critical piece of great financial importance, we would really like to find someone to help fill our Field Coordinator position for our club.

Looking forward to this year and next year, we will continue working with OYSA in developing the soccer programs that serve our community with integrity and transparency. We will continue networking, building and strengthening relationships with other clubs of our stature so we can learn from each other in what is has been successful and unsuccessful for the landscape of our soccer communities. We will look to provide competitive friendlies (scrimmages) that will challenge our players in a great developmental environment. We will also continue with our outreach to recreatioonal clubs to help provide a competitive pathway for players seeking to take their soccer experience to the next level.

As you are well aware, North Clackamas School District will continues working on the much needed infastructioure upgrades afforded by the bond measure. This has meant extensive field currently and over the next two years at all of our field locations: Milwaukie HS, Rex Putnam HS and Aldercreek. The board continues to reach out to new field sites so be prepared to see more practices and games at new fields as a result of construction impacts. We do realize that some of these can be inconvenient, but with our growing club and number of teams we do the best we can for what is presented to us through this adjustment period. A dream of the Club is to have our own field(s) someday, like many of you may know that Eastside Timbers have built out in Gresham. If someone has some land they would like to donate to Thelo we would be happy to discuss that with you. J

In closing, THANK YOU! It has been a joy watching this club grow and helping this club offer our highly competitive programming to our local community and beyond. Every one of you who volunteers and/or helps to support this club is very special to us. Again a big thank you from myself and all of the board for all you do to give our players this experience.

Thank you,

Kyle Rood
